Cabin 4/23/12

We have been horribly busy this last few weeks with not only duties here, but other things life brings. It feels like we never stop (actually, it’s not just a feeling come to think about it) and we never get enough done. We are plodding along, though, doing as much as we can as the opportunity presents itself. We got started early last Saturday, not long after daylight, and worked until after dark. We finished getting the rest of the window trims cut and ready to put on as well as the board and batten finished on the upstairs back…during the week before, Roy got blue board insulation put up between the lathing strips and during this week we also got lathing and blue board insulation put up on the east side of the lean-to…but we ran out of daylight, so we didn’t get the window frames or the batten stained. This past Saturday was a short work day due to job obligations, but I got the window frames put up on the downstairs windows on the front and got all four front window trims and the two upstairs on the back stained, while Roy dug a trench to locate the water supply and put up boards on the east lean-to. On Sunday afternoon, we finished putting the batten on the east side after I got back from a bridal shower. We have made arrangements to get gutters and get a deep trench dug for the electrical supply line. Hopefully, the electrical inspection and rough plumbing will be close behind. In addition to the work we’ve gotten done, we have chicks hatching erratically here and there…but I’ll have to save that for tomorrow.
