We worked this past Saturday and took two days off work this week to get as much as we could on the cabin. We got lathe, insulation, boards, Timbor x 2, and stain on the back of the upstairs, as well as the second upstairs window put in. We also got lathe and insulation on the west side of the lean-to and made good progress on the chinking on the front. All the window are in now, except one in our bedroom upstairs. We have to wait until the scaffolding is up on that side to reach it.One of the windows in intentionally higher than the others because I wanted the stove to go under it and not stick up in front of it. This would normally bother me, but since it is the back of the house, and no one will see it but us, plus being able to look out while I cook, I decided the benefit outweighed the asymmetry.
Our goal for this Saturday is to finish the chinking on the front and get the bottom windows framed and all four front windows stained, battens up and stained on the back, and boards on the west side. I can’t wait to finish the front and get the scaffolding off the porch…then I can put some chairs up there and imagine the rest is finished.
