This Saturday was frustrating because we kept running into problems and out of supplies, but we did accomplish some things. We started by taking out the window on the east side of the living room because it didn’t stay open and we discovered it had to be tempered glass because it was at the bottom of the stairs. This led to the 1st of 4 trips into town when we returned it, bought the rest of the windows and ordered the tempered glass. I was disappointed that it will be 2 to 3 weeks before it comes in and it cost twice as much as the regular windows. Regulations have doubled the cost of this cabin.
Dad and Brother-in-Law were here and the men got started on the wiring and managed to get the boxes hung on the side of the house ( such a sad sight that it almost temps me to say we’ll live without power) and connected them to the box on the inside. This led to a trip for a saw blade, followed by a trip for one missing part. On a positive note about the electricity, the line will be buried and the temporary pole we have will come down.
Dad and I got started on the chinking, which led to a trip for sand, but only got the last two bottom rows on the west side done so the electrical boxes could go up. Even thought we didn’t seem to get alot done, we worked non-stop and got information and materials that will make next Saturday very productive. On another positive note, the west side of the house is now officially and completely finished. All wood, stain, chinking, and windows are done!
