Cabin Update 7/19/12

The log wall on the west side of the living room is almost finished. After distressing the logs and getting them up, we stained them. We intended it to be much lighter than the ceiling, but it went on a lot darker than we expected. I am actually very happy with it, and glad it worked out that way. We put scrap strips of drywall in for chinking, and filled in all gaps with drywall mud. The final step will be a good coat of slightly tinted drywall mud over all of the “chinking”.

We have been working like crazy to get the drywall done. We have the whole downstairs taped, mudded, sanded, and mudded again. After a  good sanding it should be ready to paint. We got the girls bedroom drywalled, but ran out of nails, daylight, and energy, so there is still a little work to do there. We are off to do that today.

The much neglected final side of the cabin has its logs and is well on its way to being finished…Finally! Yesterday, the wood for the eaves was planed and may go up today. Then it is spray with borate, stain, and chink.
