Another Day With the Trackhoe

Evening out the trenches

When we woke up Wednesday morning, Roy decided he needed to take the day off to finish the digging. He realized he could do a little more work on the footers for the pillars with the trackhoe before they picked it up. He was literally out at daylight working, while I got the kids ready for school.

Measuring the depth

I got back from taking them at 7:15 and he had called to keep it another day, because he realized it would be more economical to dig the sewer line to the septic tank while we had the trackhoe.

Ditch for sewer line

New water line

Long story, short, we got the line dug, but we busted the main water line for the 3rd time this year. We got it repaired, with some new and improved features, like cut offs at various places.

Taking a break

After that, we did all the work we could with the trackhoe and worked on the  footer trenches by hand until well after dark and fell exhausted into bed. We overslept this morning and didn’t even hear the alarm.
